Jakarta Provincial Government participates at the 9th Forum of Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) held three days at Sofitel Leeman Resort Hotel, Sanya, Hainan.

The forum, which took place from August 28 to 30, 2024, was attended by delegates from various major cities in the world, including Indonesia. The main theme of the forum was 'Open Cooperation and Innovative Development for Sustainable Tourism'.

Jakarta raises the Seribu Islands case study to share knowledge and insights on open cooperation and innovative development for sustainable tourism.

The Seribu Islands have challenges and potential for collaborative solutions since it consists of 105 islands with unique ecosystems and marine biodiversity including coral reefs and mangrove forests. 

Jakarta had the opportunity to deliver its presentation in session III on August 29, 2024. The presentation was opened by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency's Head of Tourism Industry Division, Iffan, continued by presentation by Abang and None Jakarta 2023.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head, Andhika Permata, said the TPO Forum provides a valuable opportunity for Jakarta to learn from other cities around the world about sustainable tourism development through collaboration and innovation.

According to him, Jakarta Provincial Government has made various efforts to maintain the rich marine ecosystem, empower local communities and promote responsible tourism in the Seribu Islands.

"We hope that Jakarta can establish closer cooperation with other cities, learn from their experiences, and jointly develop innovative solutions to address sustainable tourism challenges," Andhika said, Tuesday (9/3).

He added that the active participation of the Jakarta Provincial Government in the 9th TPO Forum in Sanya, Hainan, shows a strong commitment to advance tourism in Jakarta, especially the Seribu Islands.

Andhika hopes that Jakarta can establish closer cooperation through this forum with other cities around the world in developing sustainable and innovative tourism.

"Jakarta shows its seriousness in realizing its vision of becoming a sustainable global city that is livable for all its citizens, especially in the tourism sector by continuing to participate in international forums such as TPO," Andhika stated.
